"I just wanted to let you know that for me, this New Year is the most promising I’ve had in a long time. A year ago, I spent New Years in St Vincent’s Hospital, Manhattan, relegated to a wheelchair. In fact, I was only a few short weeks from having been stuck in a bed, period. For on October 18, 2007 I was severely injured in an IED Blast in Southern Baghdad. At the time it was unclear if I would even survive the blast, let along keep my left leg. However, this year I am walking with minimal use of a cane, and that is in huge part thanks to the hard work and selfless dedication of your staff; who devoted their time, energy and support. Because of all of you and the phenomenal brace you crafted I was regiven the gift of movement. A gift I certainly cherish."
